Sensitivity
What it isn’t and what it is
Sensitivity is not fragility.
Sensitivity is like being able to hear the “silent” languages that everyone speaks, but only some can hear.
At first it may sound like cacophony. It may feel overwhelming when simply moving about the world.
“It’s so loud and chaotic out there!” And yet most people don’t really get it because they don’t really hear them.
These languages could be unspoken feelings, facial expressions, emotions, relational dynamics, subtle energies, nature’s signs and more.
So, perhaps you adaptively learned how to drown out all the languages because it was too much; perhaps that also meant drowning out your own languages: of your feelings, your intuition, your body.
When the time is right and you hear the whisper or call to tune back in, that’s magic. That’s when you begin to not only hear the languages but to learn them, to understand them, to realize that the languages carry information ~ valuable information.
This is sensitivity.
Yes, this is a challenge, and it also a remarkable gift.
